that every day is the best day in the year"

sweet treats ......

this pretty Australian Admiral butterfly
had left it's home in the stinging nettle patch below
to flutter up for a pollen and nectar breakfast

shrugging off winter .............

~   Bonython Hall  Adelaide University   ~
walking by the city university the other day I noticed
fonds of colour high in the jacaranda trees
They are not due to flower till much later in the year
but to my delight these few trees had grown impatient
and had sprung into life in the middle of our very cold winter

Really ......

It has been cold and wet in my corner of the world
and so I have spent time sorting through travel pics
and when the need arises  - delete delete and delete
Why do I find it so difficult to click the Delete button??
This pic was taken along Rue Montorgueil in Paris last year
and I had to smile at the expression on the faces of both
flower buyer and flower seller
Monsieur has obviously spent too much on Le Hot-Dog
and has not enough coinage to pay for the flowers.
Madame Fleurist is looking on with a bemused  expression.
Not enough for flowers?

as good as it gets .......

~   Morialta First Falls   ~
I know we can in no way compete with the amazing
Niagara or Victoria Falls but at the moment in our foothills
we have quite an impressive display of water bouncing over the cliff face

rusty push-bike ......

nothing lovelier than a rusty push-bike
it's got stories to tell  -  been places -  experience life
pedalled along dusty tracks - bumped up and down cobbled lanes and alley-ways
transported the old and the young, the rich and the poor
the short and the tall, the elegant and the scruffy
and alas now sits idle - nothing more than a shop advertising prop
If I happened by and noticed a "For Sale" tag
I would buy it in a heartbeat!

shepherd cottage .....

rounding a bend on my walk along the Winter Walking Track
I spied this cute little shepherds hut amid the lilies.
I must return in a few weeks when hopefully the trees in the far field
will be in full blossom

tangled wood posy ........

 ~  hardenbergia violacea   ~

trailing twining tendrils of our native lilac
twist themselves in and around the stem of a baby pink gum tree
forming a natural tangled wood posy

at the moment these lovely indigenous plants are in full flower in our foothill scrub-land
and I find that although their tendrils wander and entwine
they seem to be in no way invasive or threatening to other indigenous flora

cold and wet in Adelaide .....

~   Second Creek   ~
creeks and falls awash with water
 from the nearby hills
Yes it's the middle of winter here in my home state
and as expected our days are generally cold and wet!!
but sometimes it's well worth venturing out

a brush of pink ......

looking towards "the causeway" linking
Granite Island to Victor Harbour
I love the softness of an evening sky just after the sun had dipped below the horizon
and we can enjoy that quiet moment - when all seems right with the world
