as good as it gets .......

~   Morialta First Falls   ~

I know we can in no way compete with the amazing
Niagara or Victoria Falls but at the moment in our foothills
we have quite an impressive display of water bouncing over the cliff face

rusty push-bike ......

nothing lovelier than a rusty push-bike
it's got stories to tell  -  been places -  experience life
pedalled along dusty tracks - bumped up and down cobbled lanes and alley-ways
transported the old and the young, the rich and the poor
the short and the tall, the elegant and the scruffy
and alas now sits idle - nothing more than a shop advertising prop

If I happened by and noticed a "For Sale" tag
I would buy it in a heartbeat!

shepherd cottage .....

rounding a bend on my walk along the Winter Walking Track
I spied this cute little shepherds hut amid the lilies.
I must return in a few weeks when hopefully the trees in the far field
will be in full blossom

tangled wood posy ........

 ~  hardenbergia violacea   ~

trailing twining tendrils of our native lilac
twist themselves in and around the stem of a baby pink gum tree
forming a natural tangled wood posy

at the moment these lovely indigenous plants are in full flower in our foothill scrub-land
and I find that although their tendrils wander and entwine
they seem to be in no way invasive or threatening to other indigenous flora

cold and wet in Adelaide .....

~   Second Creek   ~

creeks and falls awash with water
 from the nearby hills

Yes it's the middle of winter here in my home state
and as expected our days are generally cold and wet!!
but sometimes it's well worth venturing out

a brush of pink ......

looking towards "the causeway" linking
Granite Island to Victor Harbour

*********

I love the softness of an evening sky just after the sun had dipped below the horizon
and we can enjoy that quiet moment - when all seems right with the world

Australian Bush .......

golden wattle amid the gums  ~

mid-winter is a lovely time to take a walk in the hills
although usually cold and wet there's a multitude of
treasures to be found

blackberry brambles,  bumble bees sucking nectar from native lilacs
and if you look high in the canopy of eucalyptus gums
you will find cuddly koalas snuggled in for their day-time nap  ~

Adelaide Crows .... a fitting tribute ......

Adelaide Oval ablaze in red - blue-and gold
a fitting tribute to the Adelaide Football Club's coach
who was tragically murdered in his home this weekend

a different perspective .......

a little sunshine on a cold winter day
brings a twinkle to spent waves
and a softness to our winter skies.

seashells take on a very different appearance
when photographed from ground level
great for the pic but not so great for this photographer
